I actually installed the drivers just to see what the INF file contained that made those work for x Visioneer scanners are not currently compatible with Windows Vista.

Didn’t find what you are looking for? I, just now, successfully installed the onto my Windows 7 machine, by using davcall’s directions. Slave the XP hard drive to your Vista machine with the scanner attached. Here’s the key trick, I think: I give up – time to hold onto my old pc I guess, or use my camera to photograph pieces of paper laying on the floor, instead of scanning them for now.
I’m not sure whether you need to try the “XP Compatibility Mode” thing or not — I did, but it didn’t seem to make much difference. Go to the setup. Is the jig up for this trick as of Win8 Consumer Preview?
Saturday, July 5, 7: It’s been a long thread and I’m having trouble guessing what exactly you did to make your scanner work. It installed the drivers fine but now when I connect the scanner with the computer, it says “Unable to Connect with Scanner” Sunday, February 11, 6: I saw that it was looking for a file with the “inf” extension, and when I went to uninstall the Scansoft programs, using “custom” on the uninstall, I could see where it had put such files.
So go back to the Visioneer site and download the Windows XP drivers, then follow Davcall’s instructions. Replying to a 6-year-old thread, but it worked for me with a fresh Windows 7 machine.

Friday, December 14, vieioneer Just now learned about the compatabilty mode install. I really like this scanner. Change one of the two [Models] sections to [Models. This solution just worked for me with my Windows 7 32 bit Upgrade.

The compatibility-mode-run-as-administrator tack didn’t work for me. The scan window that opens is labeled Visioneer Scan Manager Pro: So just scan vidioneer first then mess with the image.
